I have worn regular contacts before and they are quite soft. But then I got my perscription lenses for astigmatism, the middle part is quite harder than the outsides. Is this normal?

Yes, it is normal. The type of contact lenses for astigmatism are thicker than regular contacts, so it is normal that the middle part of the lens is harder than the outside.

YES, it is just that type. Lenses for astigmatism ( toric lenses) are all like that. I think they are more easy to wear than regular soft contacts as they are harder in the middle part.
