Generally speaking, track runners wear sunglasses for the sake of protecting their eyes and of well performance in the games. Because the track competitions are usually held in the outdoors and there are many strong ultraviolet rays in the sunshine as well as many annoying reflection rays and refraction rays. The ultraviolet rays can damage the crystalline lenses and cause cataracts. And the reflection and refraction lights can distract the attention of the track runners in the competition. Therefore, track runners wear sunglasses to screen off the ultraviolet rays and reflection and refraction rays.
