Actually, itchy eyes are not a sign of glaucoma. But glaucoma really causes itchy indeed. The most common symptom of glaucoma is eye pain. That is, you feel burning, a freeing of sandy, itchy and redness because of pain in eyes. Pain in eye occurs with high pressure in eyes. Glaucoma can be clarified with several kinds. And different types have different symptoms. Pain is not a certain sign of primary open angle glaucoma. So if you really suspect you get glaucoma, a doctor can give you a hand.

Glaucoma is a kind of eye disease which can lead to damage to the optic nerves of eyes which transmits images to the brain and that will get worse over time in people's life. Glaucoma is often associated with a buildup of pressure inside the eye which is called intraocular pressure that can damage the optic nerve. If damage to the optic nerve from high eye pressure continues, glaucoma will cause permanent loss of vision. Glaucoma tends to be inherited and may not show up until later in life. There are many symptoms of glaucoma such as seeing halos around lights, getting vision loss, seeing redness in the eyes, eyes that looks hazy which happens particularly in infants, nausea or vomiting, pain in the eye, narrowing of vision, i.e., tunnel vision. Should people have any of the above symptoms, they have to seek immediate medical care. Itchy eyes can be caused by overuse of eyes, eyes laking water, not doing good eye hygiene, getting infected, and so on. It might as well be one of symptoms or complications of glaucoma. If so, you had better go to the doctor's for an eye examination.

Well, yes, glaucoma can just lead to itchy eyes, so you need to pay more attention to it. First, you should know that glaucoma actually is related to a group of diseases and it can cause damage to the optic nerve as a result of increased pressure within the eye. According to some researches, glaucoma can be caused by a severe eye infection, injury, blocked blood vessels or inflammatory conditions of the eye. So when it occurs, your eyes can be red, even itchy. For your situation, some lutein can be used. Also, just be careful about eye infection.
