  • Can too much UV rays increase the risk of getting eye disease?

As the UV protection is so important for sunglasses, so I wonder if too much UV rays increase the risk of getting eye disease.

Yes, too much exposure to UV rays is quite serious and people have a bigger chance to get cataracts, macular degeneration, or, in some cases, skin cancer around the eyelids when they get old. So it is better to wear protective eyewear any time the eyes are exposed to UV rays, even on cloudy days and during the winter.

Too much exposure to UV rays can greatly increase the risk of getting cataracts and cause damage to the retina which cannot be reversed. What's more, too much unprotected exposure to UV rays can cause photokeratitis which is sunburn of the eye.
